Firefly Occasions isn't simply a wedding and event planner... it’s the fusion of extreme talent working together to create occasions for you that sparkle, groove, and captivate. Firefly Occasions Inc. was created by Ciara Daykin and is operated in Calgary, AB, Canada although the team will travel to various destinations to provide services. Gustygroom.com and Rockstarweddingplanner.com are both divisions of Firefly Occasions Inc. Ciara is a Member of the Association of Bridal Consultants and has earned the designation of Professional Bridal Consultant™
People often ask us, “What’s a Firefly Occasion?” When Ciara was brainstorming in the initial stages of creating the company she really concentrated on the imagery she wanted the name to convey. She wanted the concept to be heavily romantic but as simplistic and pure as love should be. Her favorite image was…A couple in love, sneak away from a large party to be alone. They run barefoot through the dewy grass to the lake. The band starts to play and they dance with a starry sky as their backdrop as the fireflies flutter in and out of the moonbeams. Now that’s definitely a “firefly occasion.”
The way in which the company was named and developed illustrates the care and dedication that is the essence of Firefly Occasions Inc. Great effort has been put into creating a corporation that provides cutting edge ideas and extraordinary customer service to our clients. It is with the utmost care that we develop vendor relationships and select who we refer for our events.

Ciara Daykin - Event Choreographer
Ciara Daykin is the owner and director of Firefly Occasions Inc. She holds a BA Communications & Culture with a major in Leisure and Tourism from the University of Calgary.
During university Ciara worked with Bust Loose Holidays coordinating large scale events and destination vacations. Upon graduation she moved to Toronto, ON and began contract work with CARAS (Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences). Together with the team at CARAS, Ciara participated in the coordination of the weekend's events surrounding the 2003 Juno Awards hosted in Ottawa/ Gatineau. Also in Toronto, Ciara worked with SNAP Promotions, one of Canada's leading incentive marketing companies providing customized incentive and promotional marketing programs and services to some of North America's leading companies. During her time at SNAP, Ciara worked with clients such as GE and Heinz Canada.
Ciara now lives in Calgary, AB with her husband Simon and dogs, Kohl and Chayse. Ciara's husband Simon is a certified Interior Decorator and handles all the decorating contracts for Firefly Occasions. Simon is extremely detail orientated and puts considerable effort into the designs that he develops for Firefly's clients. Ciara's attention to detail, creative ideas, and industry connections are an asset to each of her clients. She has helped many engaged couples by making ordinary weddings... extraordinary! Ciara is also a member of the Association of Bridal Consultants.
Simon Daykin - Atmospheric Designer
Simon Daykin is an accomplished designer. He began is career in Ontario at Sheridan College prior to moving to Calgary to work as an Architectural Designer. Simon is also an accredited interior decorator. Simon's involvement in events began early in his career when he was the co-owner of a successful DJ company in Toronto. Having been the DJ at over 200+ events, Simon knows that music impacts the entire atmosphere of an event. Simon also worked directly with artists during his career in the Canadian music industry with an independent artist recording distributor. He was the guest judge at many battle of the band events and has a diverse taste in music.
During his studies in interior decorating Simon took a particular interest in Feng Shui and transfers this knowledge to the events he designs at Firefly. Simon is skilled in creating moody lighting to enhance the ambience and is experimenting with frangrance to heighten the senses of the guests as they walk into his creations.
Simon now lives in Calgary with his wife, Ciara Daykin, The Event Choreographer for Firefly Occasions. Together, Ciara and Simon infuse events with unique detailing. The two travel extensively, researching event production in different countries and cultures. Most recently Simon and Ciara visited with Hugh Hefner at the Playboy Mansion.
